Veterans Day Teaching FREEBIE

Veterans Day is an official United States public holiday, observed annually on November 11, that honors military veterans; that is, persons who served in the United States Armed Forces. It is a celebration to honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.

Here is a FREE Veterans Day Freebie from CHSH-Teach.com that is designed to help your children and students focus their attention on a veteran that they personally know (or perhaps a family member that has passed).

If you are looking for additional Veterans Day resources, please check out these and other resources from CHSH-Teach @ http://www.chsh-teach.com/pt/Veterans-Day-Teaching-Resources–Downloads/wiki.htm

Presidents Day Vocabulary

Presidents’ Day is an American holiday celebrated on the third Monday in February. Originally established in 1885 in recognition of President George Washington, it is still officially called “Washington’s Birthday” by the federal government. Traditionally celebrated on February 22—Washington’s actual day of birth—the holiday became popularly known as Presidents’ Day after it was moved as part of 1971’s Uniform Monday Holiday Act, an attempt to create more three-day weekends for the nation’s workers. While several states still have individual holidays honoring the birthdays of Washington, Abraham Lincoln and other figures, Presidents’ Day is now popularly viewed as a day to celebrate all U.S. presidents past and present.

Presidents Day is a perfect opportunity to provide your students with additional work word centered around this holiday.
