Is it important to review Math Skills throughout the year? Yes! When we learn new information, we remember it best immediately after we’ve learned it. It is easy to forget skills, even just a few days or weeks after we’ve learned them. That is why it is important that we make time to have students review previously learned skills.
There are a lot of Math skills being taught in the 2nd and 3rd grades and these skills need to be repeatedly reinforced throughout the year.
For teachers looking to add some holiday flair to the review of Math skills in the month of March, I’ve created March Math Skills Review for 2nd & 3rd Grades with a St. Patrick’s Day theme!
This resource includes 77 student pages and covers the following skills:
2 digit addition (worksheets for ‘no carry’ and ‘carry’)
2 digit addition word problems
2 digit subtraction (worksheets for ‘no borrow’ and ‘borrowing’)
Mixed addition/subtraction word problems (some worksheets designed in ‘test prep’ format)
Find the missing addend and subtrahend worksheets
3 digit addition (worksheets for ‘no carry’ and ‘carry’)
Roman numerals (I, V, X, L) – identification, conversion, addition
Critical Thinking skill worksheets
Order of Operations
Place Value: Building 3 and 4 digit numbers / Expanding numbers
Skip Counting by 50, 100, 250
Rounding to the nearest 10 and nearest 100
Telling time: nearest hour, half hour, 5 minutes and minutes
I’ve designed Shamrock Math so that it can be used with various ages and skill levels! It is also GREAT for visual learners as well as your kinesthetic learners who love hands-on manipulatives!
Included in Shamrock Math – Counters, Mats and Worksheets:
– Clover ‘shamrock’ counters for numbers 1-100 and additional blank cards
– 60 individual clover ‘shamrock’ counters
– Group of tens clover ‘shamrock’ counters (2 styles)
– Base ten blocks (green): hundreds, tens and ones
– 8 Math mats
– 16 Worksheets (varied skill levels)
Math Mats are designed for number recognition, counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, place values (tens/ones and hundreds/tens/ones)
Math Skills: single digit addition, single digit subtraction, addition fact families, double digit addition, counting using block ten markers, place value, multiplication fact families, word problems, division.
Please Note: The counters and mats will take prep time. Counters are best prepared by printing, laminating and cutting apart (to use year after year). Mats should be printed and laminated as well.
Teaching students to have a positive ‘growth’ mindset can be invaluable. Why? Students with a positive mindset believe they can develop abilities through hard work. Basically, that they are only limited by what they believe about themselves and the effort(s) that the apply to learn new things.
Students with a positive growth mindset are more resilient in the face of failure, more engaged in their own learning, and more apt to work hard to overcome a challenge.
With this in mind, I’ve created a set of resources that can be used for Kindergarten – 5th grade that will help you teach your students to have a positive growth mindset!
